Squid Hat: Make Yours!

As a Swede trader's daughter living in Ferrara, Italy most of her adult life then transferred to the Hebrides, my persona would have said, "That which the Germans fall short of in style, they more than compensate for in Enthusiasm!" Ergo: the Squid Hat (18th Century German Fringed Hat). Yes, those Crannacts and Landsknects knew how to party, and stayed ready in "festive" attire.

At the July Three Mountains (Portland/Milwaukie) Social night on Tuesday 7/5 there will be a “Squid” Hat class (15th century German fringed hat, appropriate for men and women). It will be a super easy project requiring fairly minimal sewing skills.

BRING:

$5 for materials, or $1 for handout if you bring your own fabric.

A basic sewing kit (needles, scissors, pins, etc.) Provided Materials (see $5 option above) Wool will be provided.

If you wish to bring your own fabric, bring 1 yard of a light to medium fulled wool fabric (you might bring a couple and we can see which would be best if you are unsure), and thread to match

RESERVE YOUR SPOT: Email robinjwright@gmail.com or, if you know her email address, email Idonia or go to the Three Mountains FB page and just ask.. Taught by Idonia Sherwood (Miriam Pike).
