I currently hold the office of Deputy Chatelaine for the Barony of Stromgard. What that means is that I am here to be your guide to getting your questions answered regarding the SCA in general, our local Barony and how to get started having fun socializing and experiencing history.  
 

We have elaborate events. We camp. We have classes. We have feasts. We have mock wars and combat. We have archery & thrown weapons. We make all kinds of stuff (medieval people were very resourceful, if nothing else). We share knowledge (yes, you can find a mentor in practically any craft, art, science or martial practice). If we don't have expertise, we share what we do have - enthusiasm, curiosity, and helpfulness. We loan garb (ask for the Gold Key).  We emphasize chivalry in all we do.  

In my mind, it's a great place to step outside of our modern (mundane) world into a world where things like merit, skill, resourcefulness, camaraderie, community, mastery and politeness reign.
